Kamut Sang Pag-Amlig - Una Nga Bahin

“KAMUT SANG PAG-AMLIG” 

A FORUM ON CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL ART EVENT



Green Alert Negros (GAN) in collaboration with various Negrense artists organized a 2 day environmental event dubbed as “Kamut sa Pag-amlig” which is part of series of activities for this year’s Earth Day Celebration. 
A “Forum on Climate Change” in partnership with The Negros Museum, was slated last April 11, 2014, 1pm at the Negros Museum. GAN is one of the staunch advocates on climate change wherein several actions was recently launched to reduce the impacts of climate change to local communities such as opposition of the 150-200 MW coal fired power plant in Cadiz City. GAN has also been consistent in stopping further damage to the remaining forests cover in Negros particularly in Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park and Northern Negros Natural Park. For many years, GAN is supporting climate mitigation initiatives such as promotion of renewable energy options, except geothermal exploration in Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park. Members of GAN are also doing actual work on Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) through capacity building, conduct of Participatory Disaster and Climate Risk Assessment and Analysis and development of various DRR and CCA options integrating this in community and LGU planning and budgeting. 
Last April 12, Saturday, Negrense artists will take center stage to show their commitment in environmental protection through on the spot painting in Balay na Bato in Marapara Heights Subdivision, Bacolod City. Balay na Bato is considered one of the existing houses in the country that was built through green architectural and engineering design. Balay na Bato is also the Headquarters of Green Alert Negros and is owned by Rusty Binas, one of the founders of Green Alert Negros. 
Negrense artists who will participate in the on the spot painting include Tristram Miravalles, Darrel Javier, Mikiboy Pama, Roedil “Joe” Geraldo, Jay-r Delieva, Moreen Austria, Marisol Alquizar, Hilario Campus III, Bogie Alvarado, Frelan Gonzaga, Jovita “Otay” Hecita, Rafael “Carlo” Burdeous, Larry Guillema, Revo Yanson, Jolen Resuma, Justin Ian Tingson, Dante “Tarzan” Mediz, Cinty Ballesteros, Chin Guanzon, Joey Destriza, Marse Cuenca, Clinton Loja and Nunelucio Alvarado.
